APHL Clinical Laboratory Preparedness and Response: Train-the Trainer Workshop for Public Health Lab

Starts:  Mar 4, 2026 12:00 PM (ET)
Ends:  Mar 5, 2026 12:00 PM (ET)

DESCRIPTION

APHL is convening this train-the-trainer workshop designed for public health laboratory (PHL) staff who deliver rule-out and refer training for biothreat agents to their clinical laboratory partners. Participants will gain knowledge of available training resources and materials to support effective outreach and education efforts. This workshop will explore strategies for engaging clinical laboratories, promoting biosafety best practices and ensuring compliance with packaging, shipping and Select Agent regulations. Attendees will learn practical approaches to help clinical partners implement these tools and learn the requirements. In a small-group, collaborative setting, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, address challenges and network with peers from across the PHL community—leaving equipped with the skills and support to train others and strengthen local biothreat preparedness.

AUDIENCE

This workshop is intended for PHL training staff who conduct outreach to clinical laboratory partners and plan to deliver hands-on (wet) workshops, or provide other training, related to rule-out and referral of priority threat agents.
