DESCRIPTION
APHL is convening this technical workshop to provide training to biosafety officers (BSOs) on biorisk management principles as well as safety fundamentals. The workshop will utilize lectures and exercises to engage participants in interactive sessions where they learn from faculty as well as their peers. This workshop will also provide a forum for biosafety officers to ask questions in a small classroom setting and network with each other.
AUDIENCE
This course is intended for BSOs or biosafety professionals currently working in a public health laboratory.
OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the program, the participant will be able to:
- Explain the key principles of biorisk management
- Apply the concepts of safety within quality management systems
- Describe effective approaches towards implementing biosafety competencies within the laboratory
- List effective outreach approaches to engage clinical laboratories
- Identify effective biosecurity practices
