  • 1.  USCDI ONDEC (ONC New Data Element and Class) Submission System

    The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is seeking submissions of elements and classes to the United States Core Data for Interoperability System. Though the title is named "ONC New Element and Class", it does not need to just be new elements. Submissions can also be used for elevating already listed elements in levels 1 or 2 to the next version. Users can connect with other submitters and collaborate to strengthen a submission by commenting on them rather than submitting a duplicate entry.

    The deadline for new submissions for USCDI v5 is September 20, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Submissions after this date will be considered for USCDI v6.

    I'll point out that on the Level 0 tab of the USCDI website (https://www.healthit.gov/isa/united-states-core-data-interoperability-uscdi#level-0) there is an existing data class called Newborn's Delivery Information containing data elements related to newborn screens (including EHDI and CCHD as well as delivery related elements). What helps move data elements up in the priority list is public support for the data elements. I would certainly encourage anyone to add their own comments to these data elements indicating that these are critical to the work of newborn screening programs.
