  • 1.  Decision Tree Template to Share?

    Posted 07-13-2022 10:30 AM

    Hi everyone,

We received a request from our Global Health colleagues and are wondering if anyone has anything they might be willing to share. They mentioned that many of the members, partners, and countries they work with have a hard time deciding on an informatics strategy that works best for their laboratory. They are working on guidance to share and were curious if anyone on the domestic informatics side has used decision trees to help in making choices. For example, to determine if instrument interfacing is worth the effort, or using a web portal vs. LIS interface, or trying to decide between migrating to the cloud or using local servers is better.

If you have used a decision tree, or a similar strategy and are willing to share your template or associated resources, please let us know!

    Thanks so much,

    Rachel

We at J Michael Consulting have helped a few labs navigate this decision-making process. It would be hard to provide a universal template, because each site has so many variables to consider. There are tools we re-use as the Discovery progresses to support decisions.  Happy to discuss. Also if anyone we've worked with wants to volunteer anything we've provided that has been useful for you, feel free!

As a former public health lab director, I created reusable local templates based on values of importance to my organization. Also I had templates to make the case for a change or an ask.
